Fiji is now set to become an ideal surfing destination for people from all over the world as the Surfing decree 2010 comes into force from this Friday.
Attorney General and Minister for Tourism relayed the message to the members of the Surfing Association at a press conference this afternoon as he revealed that any exclusive rights to surfing spots have been removed through the decree.
This applies to Tavarua Island, which is home to some of the best surfing waves in the world called "Cloud Break" and to Namotu island which restricted access to surfers.
Sayed Khiayum said previously, tourists and locals were subject to intimidation when trying to access these surfing spots.
Members of the Surfing Association are elated with the decision and revealed that previously they had to pay $25 to surf in the exclusive zones and were only given four hours on Saturdays to enjoy the world class surfs.
They say the only time they could surf in the exclusive zones was during competitions which is only once of twice a year.
