Fiji will continue to be a beneficiary of the Commonwealth Funded Regional Project on Developing Local Governments despite its suspension from the Commonwealth.

Regional Advisor of the Commonwealth Local Government Pacific Project, Terry Parker said that Fiji's suspension from the commonwealth does not necessarily mean that all contracts or projects have been stopped.

Parker told government officials that the project will continue such as projects aimed at assisting local governments in the Pacific with reviewing existing legislations, promoting more women and youth participation in local governments, training on urban land use planning, and training on media and public relations activities, among others.
