The Digicel Fiji 7s team put on a much improved performance against Portugal in their second pool match of the Gold Coast 7s with a 38-nil win and also booking a quarterfinal berth.

Fiji scored four tries from turnovers showing the aggression in their defense and they only conceded two penalties in the whole game.

Fiji claimed five of their own kick offs with Tailevu flanker Manueli Laqai leading the charge.

Benito Eremasi scored two tries while skipper Osea Kolinisau, Samisoni Viriviri, Donasio Ratubuli and Samu Saqiwa scored a try each. 

Coach Ben Ryan only made one change with Samisoni Viriviri replacing Benito Eremasi.

In their first game against Canada, play maker Ilai Tinai scored three tries in their 20-10 win.

Fiji will meet Wales in their final pool game at 9:24pm.

The Cup quarter finals start at 1.58pm tomorrow, Cup semis kick off at 5.58pm and the Cup final will be played at 9.04pm.
 
Looking at the results so far New Zealand thrashed USA 38 nil, Kenya humbled Tonga 38-nil, South Africa beat France 29-5,  England hammered Spain 54-7, Australia drew 21-all with Scotland, New Zealand recorded their second win with a 26-nil victory over Tonga.
