Fiji pulls out of Pacific Cup
Netball Fiji has cited financial difficulties in sending the team, after the National Netball side went on the South African tour, despite NFA calling off the tour.
Netball Fiji officials didn't want to make any comments but said a press statement would be released on Monday explaining why they pulled out.
National Netball Head Coach Melissa Walker speaking from South Africa said there was no need to pull out from the Pacific Cup.
However, there's been swift reaction from the Samoa Netball Association who voiced their disappointment over the news that Fiji has pulled out from competing in the launch of the first Pacific Netball Series to be held in Apia next week.
The Fiji netball team is one of the four top teams from the Oceania Region including Tonga, Cook Islands, Papua New Guinea and Samoa who have been confirmed to take part.
Meanwhile, in the Tri Nations tournament in South Africa, Fiji was held to a 49-all draw by South Africa.
They will now play Botswana tomorrow and a win will seal their place in Sunday's final.
