The Engaging with the Pacific Leaders meeting concluded yesterday with the leaders releasing the Natadola Communique and agreeing to meet annually on a voluntary basis.

The leaders made 20 declarations through the Natadola Communique which states that the leaders agreed that Fiji’s Strategic Framework for Change is a credible homegrown process of positioning Fiji as a modern nation and to hold true to democratic processes.

The leaders agreed that important lessons could be learnt and shared within the region from Fiji’s experience and Fiji’s implementation of the Strategic Framework for Change and recognized the need for Fiji's continuous engagement with the region and its full participation in regional development, initiatives and aspirations.

The leaders have accepted Fiji's offer to organize an annual meeting of Pacific Small Island Developing States to continue engaging with Fiji and review other issues they were discussed at Natadola.

Speaking at a joint press conference, Fiji's Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said all leaders agreed that the meeting accorded them with a unique opportunity to engage.
