Fiji out to retain Melrose Cup
England won the Cup in 1993, Fiji won it in 1997, then in 2001 New Zealand stamped their mark by taking the Cup.
However in 2005, Fiji under the guidance of the 15s team coach, Wayne Pivac, Waisale Serevi and Assistant coach Josateki Savou, the team avenged their loss by beating New Zealand 29-19 in the finals to bring the coveted trophy home.
Digicel Fiji Sevens Coach Illesa Tanivula said the team will be going with a positive mindset and will try their best.
Meanwhile, France based Sireli Bobo and Watisoni Votu have been ruled out of the Digicel Fiji Sevens World Cup team with Orisi Sareki and Waisale Suka called in to replace the duo.
Fiji's first pool game is at 4:16am against Georgia next Friday, then at 8:50pm they meet USA and their last pool game at 2:20am against France on Saturday.
Other matches in the first round: Samoa meet Ireland, Argentina take on Uruguay, England meet Hong Kong, New Zealand take on Italy and South Africa meet Japan.
