England, Fiji and New Zealand have been the teams walking home with the Melrose Cup ever since the Rugby World Cup started in 1993 however none have successfully defended the Cup two years in a row and Fiji will be out to change this.

England won the Cup in 1993, Fiji won it in 1997, then in 2001 New Zealand stamped their mark by taking the Cup.

However in 2005, Fiji under the guidance of the 15s team coach, Wayne Pivac, Waisale Serevi and Assistant coach Josateki Savou, the team avenged their loss by beating New Zealand 29-19 in the finals to bring the coveted trophy home.

Digicel Fiji Sevens Coach Illesa Tanivula said the team will be going with a positive mindset and will try their best.
