The Vodafone Fiji 7s team got off to a shaky start at the Japan 7s tournament after beating France 22-19 in their opening pool match at the Japan 7s tournament.
Missed tackles nearly cost Fiji the match as Setefano Cakau scraped through to score the match winner in the dying seconds of the game.
Fiji had a good start in the first half as they scored three tries through Osea Kolinisau while Samisoni Viriviri touched down twice.
In the second half France caught Fiji off guard with some straight running and stunning set piece play to score three tries.
Fiji led 17-0 at halftime.
Fiji is now the team that commits the most errors in a game and they also conceeded a total of eight penalties.
The Vodafone Fiji 7s team will take on USA at 4.18pm and will play their last pool match against Samoa at 8.52pm.
