Tahiti is in second place with 20 gold, 17 silver and 14 bronze while New Caledonia lies in 3rd place with 15 gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze.
Team Fiji's chef de mission Patrick Bower said with a few sports remaining before the games officially ends on Saturday, he does not see any threats from other countries.
Team Fiji yesterday won 9 more gold medals.
They won the gold in the rugby league competition where Fiji beat the Cook Islands in the final.
The Men’s Fours team took out gold in the lawn bowls while the Women’s Fours side settled for the silver medal.
In the weightlifting competition, Manueli Tulo won 3 gold medals while Maria Liku won 2 and Faitoa Togage also won a gold medal.
The competition continues today in the Cook Islands with weightlifting, triathlon, table tennis, squash, sailing and lawn bowls in action.
