Fiji needs to be more creative and look at other avenues of export if we are to beat competition in order to cushion the effect of the global financial crisis.
Doctor Shaista Shameem said following the Governor of the Reserve Bank Savenaca Narube's comments that Fiji needs to export more, Shameem said our traditional export markets are facing a lot of difficulties and we need to be more creative.
Shameem said if Fiji is not careful then our products would be sitting in warehouses as other countries such as China are offering the same products at cheaper prices.
Narube had mentioned that one of the avenues being looked at was focusing on more exports, increasing the number of tourists coming into the country and may even look at borrowing off shore in this time of difficulty.
