Fiji needs to strengthen its laws on equality.

This is the sentiment of Dr Dimitrina Petrova, the executive director of the Equal Rights Trust, an international human rights organization based in London, who was a guest speaker at a public lecture on "Equality and human rights" at USP last night.

Dr Petrova, who spoke on the recent trends on the development of equality laws around the world, said that Fiji is one of the countries that do not have comprehensive equality legislations.

She said the country can learn from other countries.
