A 50yr old captain of a locally owned fishing vessel was arrested by the Fiji Navy on Thursday after his vessel was found to be operating without proper equipment.
According to Police Spokesperson, Sergent Suliano Tevita the vessel was located in Nasali.
Upon investigation, navy officers found that the vessel was operating without proper equipment as prescribed under the Fishing License laws.
Police have also arrested a Russian National who was also found in the vessel.
It is understood the man entered the country illegally on this vessel and is awaiting deportation.
The captain of the vessel is expected to appear in court soon.
