The Fiji men’s 7s team is through to the Medal Quarter Final of the Rio Olympics 7s competition after beating Argentina 21-14 in their second pool match.

Argentina pressured Fiji throughout the match however Kitione Taliga saved the day for Fiji as he scored two brilliant tries.

Taliga came on as a replacement after an injury to Samisoni Viriviri.

Fiji hitman, Josua Tuisova scored the first try for Fiji however Argentina hit back before half time to level the score 7-all.

Argentina took the lead in the second minute of the second half with a converted try.

Taliga then came on and scored two tries in two minutes to get Fiji ahead to 21-14.

Argentina tried to hit back but a brilliant tackle by Jerry Tuwai in the final second of play denied the Argentinians the comeback they needed.

Fiji, South Africa and Great Britain finished as the only unbeaten teams on Day One.

With only three teams unbeaten and guaranteed places in the quarter finals, other quarter‑final places are still up for grabs and will be determined after the final round of pool matches tomorrow morning.

The last round of pool matches starts at 2am tomorrow with some big match‑ups, including Great Britain against New Zealand at 3.30am, South Africa against Australia at 2.30am, Kenya against Japan at 3am while Fiji will meet USA at 4.30am in the last pool game.

The quarterfinals will be held at 8am tomorrow, the semifinals will be at 5.30am Friday while the final will be at 10am Friday.
