The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team has made a winning start at the Hamilton 7s after beating Wales 28-0.

The half time score was 14-0.

Fiji’s first try was scored by winger Eroni Sau in the first minute while the conversion was successful as Fiji led 7- nil.

Forward Paula Dranisinikula scored Fiji’s second try with a brilliant run as Fiji extended their lead by 14-0.

 

Mesulame Kunavula was shown a yellow card for a deliberate knock-on.   

Veteran forward Jasa Veremalua scored Fiji’s third try with the conversion being successful as Fiji increased their lead to 21-0.

Kalione Nasoko scored Fiji’s final try.

Fiji displayed some good attacking and defensive rugby throughout the match.   

Captain Jerry Tuwai thanked the players for their togetherness in the match.

He says they were overwhelmed by the crowd support in Hamilton.

Fiji will play their second game at 3.02pm against Spain while their final pool match is against Australia at 6.50pm.

The medal quarterfinals will start at 11.36am tomorrow, the semifinal will be at 3.49pm while the final will start at 7.03pm tomorrow.

In other matches, Kenya defeated Samoa 19-14, USA beat Canada 28-14, England thrashed Russia 47-0, South Africa defeated PNG 36-5, while Australia beat Spain 21-5.

News Zealand defeated France 52-7, while Argentina is currently leading Scotland .
