The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has suffered their second successive defeat to Australia after losing 31-19 in the cup quarter finals of the South Africa 7s this morning.

Australia dominated the match right from the kick off as they rattled the Fijians in defense as well in attack.

The Osea Kolinisau captained side had a slow start in the first half as Australia scored three tries to lead 17-5 at halftime.

In the second half, Fiji started early with tries to Savenaca Rawaca and Vatemo Ravouvou to take the lead 19-17 with three minutes left in the match.

Australian captain Ed Jenkins led from the front dominating the breakdown as they scored two converted tries late in the second half to claim the victory.

Meanwhile Fiji lost 21-14 to USA in the plate final.

They earlier defeated England 31-nil in the plate semifinal.

In the cup final, South Africa has just beaten NZ 26-17.

South Africa also becomes the first team to win a back to back title.

Looking at the points table, South Africa has now taken the lead with 59 points, Fiji is in second place with 51 while New Zealand is in third place with 47 points.
