The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has lost their semifinal clash to series leaders South Africa 7-5 in a nail biting clash.

The wet and slippery conditions at Chichibu Stadium affected both sides as they failed to execute their game plans.

Both sides were locked nil all at halftime before Jasa Veremalua scored the first try for Fiji in the second spell.

South Africa’s strong forward Kwagga Smith muscled his way through the Fijian defence to score the Blitzbok’s try and a crucial conversion from Cecil Africa.

Fiji will now meet Canada in the 3rd/4th place playoff while South Africa will play England in the Japan 7s final.

The final will be played at 9 tonight.
