Fiji is now highly likely to host the Oceania Men's Olympic Soccer qualifying tournament in March next year.

Oceania Football Confederation is expected to make its decision in a few weeks time after Fiji became the only bidder when New Zealand Football withdrew its bid to host the tournament.

The chief executive of NZ Football Graham Seatter said the decision has been forced on them as an unfortunate consequence "of the postponement of the All Whites World Cup qualifier against Fiji.

Seatter said NZ Football could not guarantee there would be no repeat of the visa issue which saw the Fiji goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau denied entry in New Zealand, forcing FIFA to postpone the match just a day before kick off.

He said they could not risk the financial impact that would result from withdrawing as a tournament host at such late notice again.
