Fiji is making great progress in terms of achieving some of the Millennium Development Goals.
This is the view of UN resident Coordinator Knut Otsby who said with only five years left until the 2015 target date, Fiji is progressing well in realising the need to achieve the goals especially the need to provide access to education.
Otsby said it is highly likely that Fiji will be able to successfully reach some MDG's with a good margin.
World leaders will meet from the 20th-22nd of September in New York to review progress and implement a plan of acceleration towards eliminating extreme poverty and hunger by the year 2015.
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) translated this commitment into action by setting targets for reducing poverty, hunger and disease while promoting education, gender equality, and environmental sustainability.
