The Digicel Fiji 7s team needs to win their remaining matches of the NZ 7s to reach the Cup quarter finals.

This is after Fiji suffered a shock defeat to Scotland 14-12 in their first pool match.

Manueli Lagai scored the first try of the match for Fiji to lead 7 0.

Scotland hit back with a try to tie the game at 7-7 in the first half.

Samisoni Viriviri opened the scoring sheet in the second half to put Fiji again in the lead 12-7.

Handling errors and unorganized defense saw Scotland score a try from their own half to take back the lead 14-12.

With 2 minutes left on the clock, Fiji had an opportunity to turn the game around when lack of support play saw Scotland regain possession and hold onto the ball until the final play.

National 7s selector and Red Rock coach Lote Rasiga said the team committed basic mistakes which cost them the game.

Another major setback for the team as rover Josua Tuisova may be out after injuring his ankle.

Our Rugby Commentator Akuila Cama confirmed that Tuisova is currently on crutches.

Meanwhile, Fiji's second match is against Australia at 4.46pm and our last pool match is against Portugal at 8.34 tonight.

Looking at the games played so far - Kenya beat France 24-12, Argentina beat Tonga 21-12, Samoa edged South Africa 19-10, Australia beat Portugal 24-5 while England beat NZ 19-14.

The Cup quarterfinals start 1.33pm tomorrow with the Cup semifinals at 5.35pm.

The Cup final will be played at 8.30pm.
