Fiji now has to beat New Zealand and hope Australia does not score more points against Scotland to make the cup quarterfinals.

This comes after Fiji lost to Australia 22-21 on the stroke of full time in their second pool match of the USA 7s yesterday afternoon.

Osea Kolinisau's two tries was not enough as Fiji was leading 21-19 on full time before Henry Seniloli was penalized for throwing the ball out of play.

From that penalty Australia applied the pressure and skipper Cameron Clark was awarded a penalty 20 metres out from Fiji's try line but Clark opted for a shot at a goal which he converted.

Kolinisau scored two tries in the first half before replacement player Jona Tuitoga scored their third try in the second half.

In the first game yesterday the national side got off to a shaky start but managed a 24-0 hard fought win over Scotland.

Fiji's next game is against New Zealand at 9:50am today.

Fiji is expected to meet Samoa, England or Portugal in the quarterfinals.

If Fiji makes it into the semifinals, then they are expected to play either South Africa, Kenya, Wales, Argentina or France.

The semifinals will kick off at 7:32am tomorrow while the final will be held at 10:25am tomorrow.

Meanwhile in other results of the games that have been played this morning Canada defeated Wales 21-19 while Australia beat Scotland 26 - 7.
