The Digicel Fiji 7s team is out of the Cup quarter finals after losing to Australia in their second pool match 21-12 in the New Zealand Sevens.
Joji Ragamate scored the first try in the second minute of play for Fiji to lead 5-0.
Australia hit back with two tries to lead 14-5 at the break.
In the second half the Australian side scored another try to take them to 21-5.
Ulaiasi Lawavou pulled one back for Fiji in the second half with 4 minutes remaining to full time.
In the last minutes of the game, the 7s team committed a lot of handling errors, were weak in ruck plays, lacked communication and players gave possession away was where Australia capitalized onto win the match.
Earlier Fiji also suffered a shock defeat to Scotland in their first pool match 14-12.
Fiji will now play in the bowl quarterfinals for the first time ever since the inception of the IRB sevens series in 1999.
Our last pool match is against Portugal at 8.34 tonight.
Looking at the games played so far - Samoa edged South Africa 19-10, Australia beat Portugal 24-5, France hammered Tonga 33-7, Kenya beat Argentina 12-0, South Africa is out of the cup quarters after a 26-15 loss to Canada, New Zealand thrashed Spain 36-5.
The Cup quarterfinals start at 1.33pm tomorrow with the Cup semifinals at 5.35pm tomorrow.
The Cup final will be played at 8.30pm tomorrow.
