Fiji Sugar Marketing Company Limited has confirmed that Fiji imports 4000 tons of sugar each month from South East Asian countries and this will continue till June.
Chief Executive Officer Viliame Savou said cost is a non issue as imports are made to meet the local demand.
Savou said sugar production for last year was low and if a similar situation arises than sugar imports would likely continue into next year too.
