The Fiji citizen being held hostage by Somali pirates is reported to be safe and sound as negotiations between the pirates, the owners of the vessel Hansa Stravanger and other authorities continue.

31 year old Wayne Suliana along with 12 other Tuvaluan crew members and 24 foreign nationals were taken hostage by Somali pirates on April 5th when the vessel was hijacked off the coast of Somalia.

Representative of the Tuvalu Seamen’s Union Fepali Kitiseni told Fijivillage that talks have been initiated with the pirates to negotiate the release of the hostages.
