The Vodafone Fiji 7s team hit back in style in the Medal Quarter Final of the Vancouver 7s in the last hour and hammered Australia 28-10.
Fiji scored four tries to win the match and also made some crucial try saving tackles to keep Australia trailing throughout the second half.
Australia’s Nick Malouf scored the first try of the game just after 2 and half minutes of play.
Fiji’s Jerry Tuwai then hit back with a try with a move that started near the Fijian tryline.
The ever consistent Masivesi Dakuwaqa scored right on half time to extend Fiji’s lead to 14-5.
Apisai Domolailai and Waisea Nacuqu scored a try a piece in the second half.
Final Score : Fiji 28 Australia 10
Fiji will play England in the second Medal Semi Final at 10.30 this morning. USA will meet South Africa in the first Semi Final at 10.08am. The Medal Final will kick off at 1.19pm.
Fiji 7s coach, Gareth Baber says it is great to hit back in style in the quarters after losing to Argentina 26-24 yesterday, and they will now get their plans ready for the semi final against England.
In the other quarters, South Africa defeated Canada 37-6, USA beat Argentina 14-12 while England beat New Zealand 14-12.
