“The forwards in the National 7s squad are battling for the spots for the Hong Kong and Japan 7s.”

Those are the words of Vodafone Fiji 7's coach Ben Ryan as he has one day left to pick a well balanced team.

Ryan says Pio Tuwai, Apisai Dommolailai and Josaia Wini also want the available spots in the team.

He added that top teams such as South Africa, New Zealand and Australia will have some of their experienced players back in Hong Kong including Tim Mikkelson and DJ Forbes who are returning for the All Blacks 7's side.

The players who are vying for a position in the forwards are Semi Kunatani, Isake Katonibau, Pio Tuwai, Jasa Veremalua, Viliame Mata, Josaia Wini, Apisai Domolailai, Sitiveni Waqa and Manueli Lagai.

Ryan will name his 12 players this Friday.

The team will leave our shores next Monday where they will play two warm up matches against Spain next Wednesday.

Fiji is pooled with Canada, Samoa and Belgium in the Hong Kong 7s which kicks off next Friday.
