Fiji expected to rake in $20m
Chinese Ambassador Doctor Han Zhiqiang said that the company - Xinfa Aurum will export 1 million tonnes of Bauxite mineral which will equate to twenty million US dollars.
Zhiqiang added that there will be a lot of benefits for the people in Bua as more jobs and better infrastructure will be provided.
Meanwhile, as part of their commitment to the local community the company Xinfa Aurum handed over a 600 thousand dollar cheque to the landowners as an educational trust fund.
The education trust fund called Future generation was today handed over to the village of Nawailevu by the mine operators Aurum Exploration Fiji Limited.
Class four student Merewalesi Raumakita and Class three student Stephanie Stolz today received the money from company rep Sang Lei.
Xinfa Aurum today received their mining license from the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
