It was a scrappy start from the Digicel Fiji 7s team as they managed to beat South Africa 29-12 in their opening pool match at the Japan 7s tournament.

Fiji scored five tries through Sakiusa Gavidi, Jasa Veremalua, Benito Eremasi and two tries from Samisoni Viriviri which was enough to give Fiji a winning start.

Despite the victory, Fiji conceded six penalties in the match and was sometimes tired in defense which resulted in South Africa scoring two tries.

Fiji will take on Spain at 5.51pm and Portugal at 9.19pm.

The Cup quarters start at 1.28pm tomorrow, Cup semis at 5.08pm and the Cup final is at 7.33pm.
