‘Miti this is for you.’
That's the word of national 7s captain Setefano Cakau after Fiji defeated New Zealand 35-28 in the Hong Kong 7s final last night.
The inspirational skipper dedicated the win to Mitieli Nacagilevu who is bed ridden after sustaining an injury during the Marist 7s earlier this month
Waisea Nayacalevu concluded his dream run at Happy Valley with two brilliant tries while Nikola Matawalu, Setefano Cakau and Joeli Lutumailagi grabbed a try each.
New Zealand came back strongly but it was not enough to deny the flamboyant Fijians their 13th Hong Kong title in the 36 year history of the tournament.
Captain Setefano Cakau says they have finally reap the rewards for their hard work.
Coach, Alifereti Dere says the win at Hong Kong is always sweet but they now have to focus on the upcoming tournaments.
The national side is still in second place with 109 points while New Zealand maintains their lead with 111 points.
Fiji earlier defeated Argentina 26-5 in the quarter finals before a hard fought 14-7 victory over England in the semifinals.
In the bowl finals Kenya beat USA 14-12, Samoa escaped Argentina 12-10 in the plate final while South Africa hammered England 28-0 in the third place playoffs.
The series now moves to Tokyo for the Japan leg.
