The Vodafone Fiji 7's second string side has been crowned the New Champions of the Oceania 7's that was held in Noosa, Australia.

Fiji put on overwhelming display of rugby to defeat their rivals New Zealand 21-5 in the final last night.

New Zealand took the early lead but Fiji responded with some dazzling play to wrest back the initiative with a converted try to make it 7-5 at half-time.

Then converted tries to Vatemo Ravouvou and Fiji 400-metre sprinter Niko Verekauta broke the game apart for Fiji whose defence and all round play was too strong for New Zealand.  

Fiji captain Nasoni Roko said that he is delighted with the result as they had worked very hard to ensure that they were ready for the tournament.

Roko said that they knew New Zealand would be very physical but he is glad that everyone had stuck to their game plan.

He also thanked their coach Ben Ryan for doing a good job with boys.

Looking at the results of the Women’s final, News Zealand defeated Australia 31-10 in a thrilling encounter.

Meanwhile, the Telecom Fijian side finished the Oceania 7's with a 3rd placing after they defeated Tonga 50-0,Samoa 31-0 and Cook Islands 50-0 in the day two round robin competition.
