Serious concerns are being raised by the Fiji government that citizens travelling to Australia are exaggerating the situation in Fiji to try and manipulate the system and find an easy way to live in Australia.

Following the death of 36 year old Josefa Rauluni at the Villawood Detention Center on Monday, Permanent Secretary for Information Sharon Smith-Johns told Radio Australia that the critics of the Fiji government in Australia are painting a negative and incorrect picture of what is happening in Fiji.

Smith-Johns said people are using this tactic to get a protection visa just so that they can remain in Australia.
