The United Nations has identified Fiji as part of five African Caribbean and Pacific countries to assist in terms of market accessibility for traditional arts.

Chief of the UN Conference on Trade and Development, Edna Dos Santos-Duisenberg revealed Fiji was chosen as it is the hub of the Pacific adding it would be a trend setter for the rest of the Pacific.

Under the UN Aid, local artists will be given a chance to showcase their talent at the international arena.

Duisenberg said after the launch of the Conservatorium of Music last week where artists, dancers and up-coming singers are given a chance to practice and perform the initiative was a boost for local talent.

The new art school is the home for the Fiji arts council gallery, newly established conservatorium of music, the Rako studio for Rotuman and Polynesian arts and the Kapui and individual art studio.
