The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has lost to England 31-26 in their quarter final match of the Cape Town 7s.

Fiji's defence was the main factor of their loss as England came back strongly to beat them at extra time.

The national side's weakness has been their defence starting from the Dubai 7s last week.

Fiji started off well in the first with tries from Sevuloni Moceinacagi, Jerry Tuwai and Joeli Lutumailagi while England hit back with two tries before half time.

Fiji was leading 19-14 at half time.

At the start of half time Fiji's fourth try was scored by Lutumailagi before England scored three tries to level the scores at 26-all.

The game went down to sudden death before England's winger Dan Norton outpaced Josua Vici and Jerry Tuwai to put England into the semifinals.

Fiji will now meet USA in the 5th place semifinals at 3.12am.

Looking at the medal semis, South Africa will meet New Zealand at 3.34am while Scotland will take on England at 3.56am.

The final will be played at 6.44am.
