Fiji branch of British Army launches Poppy Appeal
That is the stand of the Fiji Branch of the Royal British Legion as they get ready to launch their poppy appeal in the country.
According to British Army Support Officer for Fiji, Captain Roy Zaman, since 1961 Fiji has played an important part in the British Armed Forces with over 212 veterans having served in the Army since 1961 while 2500 are currently serving in the British Army.
The Legion's Poppy appeal will be co-launched on Wednesday by one of Fiji=s own sons Private Derek Derenalagi.
According to Capt. Zaman, Derenalagi is a true example of faithfulness because despite having both his legs blown off while on duty in Afghanistan in 2007, Derenalagi has found ways to help his comrades.
Pvt Derenalagi was recently awarded the Pride of Britain award for his dedicated and commitment and his goal to represent the UK in the 2012 Paralympics.
Derenalagi will be in the country for ten days and during which time he and his family will be travelling around promoting the Legion Poppy Appeal.
