Another Fijian star is born.

Mika Vukona who is a professional basketball player became a hero when he helped the Tall Blacks win the Oceania Basketball Championships in Wellington last night.

The 27 year old Fiji born Vukona who plays for the Australian Basketball League Champions, South Melbourne Dragons, produced his usual giant rebounding effort of 12 and stunned spectators with his offensive output scoring 25 points, including 19 after halftime as New Zealand scaled new heights in their basketball history against Australia beating them by 100 points to 78.

Vukona has caught the eyes of many top Basketball officials and now has thousands of fans after his top-class performance for the Tall Blacks.

New Zealand and Australia both had already qualified for next year's world championships in Turkey but New Zealand will have a superior seeding after their series win.
