The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has qualified for the cup quarterfinals of the Japan 7s tournament after a convincing 33-7 victory over Samoa in their last pool match last night.

Fiji scored five tries through Benito Eremasi, Emosi Mulevoro, Samisoni Viriviri, Setefano Cakau and Leo Naikasau.

It was an improved performance from Fiji as Pio Tuwai dictated play once again with his mesmerizing footwork and his ability to offload in tackles proved costly for the Samoans.

Fiji led 12-0 at halftime and they also showed a much improved performance in their defense as Samoa only managed a try through Sani Niue.

The Vodafone Fiji 7s team will meet Kenya in the cup quarterfinals at 1.50pm today.

In other cup quarterfinals, New Zealand play Australia at 1:28pm, England face Canada at 2:12pm and South Africa take on USA at 2:34pm.

The cup semis kick off at 5:08pm and the cup final will start at 7:43pm.

Looking at some of the results from last night, England beat Australia 24-21, New Zealand defeated Canada in a close tussle 22-17, Kenya defeated Japan 12-7 and South Africa beat Argentina 28-12.
