Emosi Mulevoro scored two tries as the Vodafone Fiji 7s team beat New Zealand in the Japan 7s semifinals 17-12 in a great match.

Mulevoro stepped up in his playmaking role and provided some sparks in the game along with Pio Tuwai, Osea Kolinisau and Samisoni Viriviri.

New Zealand scored first through skipper DJ Forbes after fending off Samisoni Viriviri to score in the corner before Mulevoro scored his first.

Forbes scored his second try as they led 12-5 at half time.

Emosi Mulevoro broke through the New Zealand defense after being set up by crafty Pio Tuwai in the second half before Samisoni Viriviri sealed the win with one and a half minutes left in the game.

Fiji was awarded a penalty with 40 seconds left on the clock when skipper Osea Kolinisau decided they should kick for touch and from the lineout Kolinisau took the ball and ran towards his own try line when the final hooter sounded.

The Vodafone Fiji 7s team will now play South Africa in the final at 7:43 tonight.

South Africa defeated England 17-0 in the second semifinal.
