The Fiji mens and womens baskteball teams have pulled out of the Oceania Basketball Championship.
Basketball Fiji President Brigadier General Iowane Naivalarua said they did this because of the economic downturn and they had no other option but to stay away.
Apart from Fiji, other countries like Tahiti and Palau have also withdrawn from the Championship.
The withdrawal of the 3 men's and women's teams will reduce the competition numbers to 5 in each category, with Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Guam and hosts Northern Marianas remaining in the competition, which will be held next month.
