Fiji was awarded the Awards of Excellence in Psychiatric Development by the Asian Federation along with countries like Sri Lanka, Cambodia and the Cook Islands.
Mental Health Consultant Dr Odille Chang who has worked with the Ministry of Health for many years received the award in Taipei.
Dr Chang said it is such a momentous occasion for Fiji to be internationally recognized, an indication that the mental health care has improved.
Permanent Secretary Health Dr Salanieta Saketa also said the award is a big achievement for Fiji.
