Fiji has just recently achieved 100 percent universal primary education in its Millennium Development Goal 2 well before 2015.

That is the sentiment of Education Minister Filipe Bole who said that compared to many other third world countries where education is expensive, the Fiji government is offering free education so that every child completes a 12 year compulsory basic education.

He goes on to state that Government are assisting parents by paying the teachers, students= tuition fee, scholarships, building grants, textbooks and transport all ensuring that the disadvantaged are able to access education resources.

In a statement, Bole said to ensure quality education the Fiji National University has taken over the training of teachers and from next year, students from kindergarten up to secondary schools will be taught by university graduates.

The Millennium Development Goal 2 states that by 2015, children everywhere will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling.
