Fiji Water Keeps Fingers Crossed
Fiji Water yesterday made its submissions to the interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry highlighting why the new taxes must be removed and agree that the taxes levied without warning are the absolute wrong way to go.
In a statement, the company said they look forward to hearing from cabinet that it has decided to repeal these draconian taxes and that they will be working in partnership with the industry for the benefit of Fiji.
Fiji Water said in their submissions they specifically addressed the concern raised by the interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry dealing with sustainability of the water resources and the benefits to Fiji that come as a result of their business.
The company has submitted that it is a significant contributor to Fiji's economy, having invested over $150 million to build a world class production facility, provided almost $8 million in royalties to the government and have created more than 400 jobs.
Fiji Water also reiterated that water from Yaqara aquifer is a completely renewable resource that is constantly replenished by abundant rainfall each year.
