The Fiji Under 23 soccer team that will play in the Pacific Games is not expected to be named anytime soon.

Head coach, Carlos Buzzetti says 23 players are in camp and he will wait for the Vodafone Fiji Under 20 players to return from New Zealand.

He says a number of National Under 20 players are expected to make the team to Papua New Guinea and the team will be named after he assesses the injuries and other factors.

The soccer competition at the Pacific Games will also serve as  the Olympic qualifier where the New Zealand Under 23 side will also be competing.

The competition will run in two sections as New Zealand will not compete for a medal while Tahiti and New Caledonia will not compete for Olympic qualification as they are not members of the Olympic Committee.

Fiji last won gold in soccer in the 2003 Pacific Games in Suva.

The Pacific Games will be held from the 4th to the 18th of next month.
