The Fiji Under 23 soccer team surprised many soccer fans in Taupo, New Zealand today after registering a 2-nil win over highly rated Solomons in the OFC Olympic qualifiers.

Fiji team captain, Esava Naqeleca led by example scoring the first goal from a Misaele Draunibaka corner kick in the 18th minute of the first half.

Then in the 65th minute, Archie Watkins got the second goal from a rebound.

Fiji will now play American Samoa at 1.30pm Sunday in its second match.

Meanwhile, in another match today, Vanuatu thumped American Samoa 8-nil.

New Zealand is currently playing Papua New Guinea.
