The Vodafone Fiji Under 23 Soccer team to Rio next month will be announced after they receive the endorsement by FASANOC.

National Soccer Team Director and Vice President, Taranesh Reddy says that they submitted 18 names on Wednesday to FASANOC and they are waiting to receive an indication.

Reddy says they have fulfilled all the requirements to qualify for soccer in the Olympics.

Under the FIFA eligibility rules for soccer, three senior players can be part of the Under 23 side.

It is highly likely that Wellington Phoenix star Roy Krishna, Ba defender Alvin Singh and Rewa goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau will be part of the Vodafone Fiji Under 23 soccer team.

Fijivillage has received confirmation that Krishna, Singh and Tamanisau are the only senior players currently in the squad as Samuela Kautoga has pulled out due to personal reasons.

Fiji will play Republic of Korea at 11am on the 5th of next month in its first Olympic Games match.

Fiji’s second match will be against Mexico at 4am on the 8th of August while we will face Germany at 7am on the 11th of August.
