A 10 man Fiji U-20 soccer team held Papua New Guinea to a nil-all draw in their opening Oceania World Cup qualifiers in New Zealand.

It was a blow to the Fiji side just a few minutes into the game when Ravinesh Singh was red carded for a foul on the PNG goal keeper.

They had to play the rest of the 90 minutes with a man down but came up with a nil all draw.

Fiji plays Vanuatu on Saturday in its second pool match.

In other matches played so far on day one, Vanuatu beat American Samoa 7-0 while the Solomon Islands beat New Caledonia 3-1.
