The Fiji U19 Cricket team is more than confident that they will be able to give England a tough contest in their opening World Cup match today.

Captain Saimoni Tuitoga says they are honoured to be the first to represent Fiji in a cricket World Cup.

He says they will fight through to the end and at least try and win two of their group matches.

Tuitoga says this will not be an opportunity they will take for granted.

The ICC Under 19 World Cup features nine Test playing countries as well as seven Associate and Affiliate Members which includes Afghanistan, Canada, Fiji, Ireland, Namibia, Nepal and Scotland.

Fiji won the East Asia Pacific U19 Cricket Trophy in New Zealand last year and qualified for the tournament.

Fiji is in group B with England, West Indies and Zimbabwe.

The match between Fiji and England will be at 3pm today.
