The Fiji Teachers Confederation including representatives from the Fijian Teachers Association (FTA) and Fiji Teachers Union (FTU) met after a lapse of a few years to discuss issues affecting their members.
Confederation secretary general Maika Namudu confirmed they will take a number of issues to government for consideration.
The FTU and FTA are affiliates of different umbrella bodies, the Fiji Trade Unions Congress and the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions, and did not have their meeting for some years.
The Fiji Teachers Confederation has a new president, Bal Ram, who is also the president of the Fiji Teachers Union replacing Tevita Koroi.
