The Fiji Sports Council in its Strategic Plan for the next two years has expressed interest in developing sporting and recreational facilities - Albert Park for instance, which could be put to better use apart from the annual Hibiscus Festival.

At a press conference this afternoon, Fiji Sports Council Board Chairman, Rajendra Chaudhry said that talks were underway with the relevant authorities to enhance the current look of the park.

Chaudhry added that the Council was also working with municipal authorities like the Nasinu Town Council to try to use land available in the area to build recreational facilities to cater for residents.

To see the implementation of the plan, the Fiji Sports Council will hold regular workshops aimed at enriching the draft of a policy paper with particular emphasis on developing sporting facilities in peri-urban areas.
