Nominations for the 2015 Fiji Sports Awards are out.
Vodafone Fiji 7s player Jerry Tuwai has been nominated for the Sportsman’s Award.
Others who have been nominated include Banuve Tabakaucoro for athletics, Iosefo Verevou from soccer, Manueli Tulo for weightlifting, Adrian Smith for hockey and Waisale Suka for volleyball.
In the Sportswoman of the year category, Milika Tuivanuavou has been nominated from athletics, Valerie Nainima from basketball, Cheyenne Rova from swimming and Apolonia Vaivai from weightlifting.
Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan has not been nominated in the coach of the year category.
Fijivillage has sent questions to the Fiji Rugby Union to get clarification on why Ryan has not been nominated as he brought home the World Rugby 7s series title last year.
The nominees for coach of the year include Bola Tafou, Kamal Swamy, Josefa Vueti and David Qiolevu.
The team of the year nominations are the Vodafone Fiji 7s team, Pacific Games women’s 4x100m relay team, Pacific Games Fiji Women’s Basketball team, the Fiji U20 Football team, the Fiji Bati and Team Fiji Karate team for the Pacific Games.
The 2016 Fiji Sports Awards will be held on February 26th at the Vodafone Arena.
