The Fiji soccer team has for the first time ever received a major ranking boost by the World Soccer Governing Body Fifa.

After beating New Zealand All Whites in the World Cup qualifying round by 2-0 last month, Fiji have gone up 31 places into an all-time high of 106th.

They have also boosted their points tally by 133 to a total of 333. This is the best ever ranking for Fiji soccer team although they missed out on the World Cup qualification and lost their Gold medal in the Pacific Games in Samoa.

Meanwhile New Zealand has dropped 26 places down to 86 while Australia who joined Asian Group has for the first time ever ranked in the top 30.

The Socceroos are now in 28th place.
