The National Federation Party said we should be grateful that the New Zealand government has not put in place trade sections against Fiji.
As the NZ government announced further travel sanctions against members of the interim regime yesterday, NFP's General Secretary Pramod Rae said the ordinary people will not really get affected by the move.
New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark has announced that the travel ban placed on members of Fiji's interim regime will be extended to cover senior officials appointed by them in response to the expulsion of High Commissioner to Fiji Michael Green.
Stuff.co reports that in addition, the visa ban is being widened to cover transit and high level contract with Fiji's interim regime.
Clark also announced an extension of the ban on Fiji citizens seeking seasonal work in New Zealand and will now include Fiji citizens already in New Zealand for other reasons and they will not be given permits.
She also said the earlier ban imposed on travel to New Zealand or transit by Fiji nationals, clubs and sports teams will be maintained.
