The Fiji sevens team is on track to defend the gold medal at the Mini Games in the Cook Islands.

The Iliesa Tanivula coached side beat Niue 38-nil in their last pool game yesterday to remain unbeaten in their pool.

Fiji will play Tonga at 10.44am in the first semifinal today while Samoa will take on Niue at 11.06am.

Fiji and Samoa are tipped to play in the finals.

Samoa like Fiji also has some of their key players like Uale Mae and Mikaele Pesamino in the team.

Fiji leads the medal tally with 32 gold, 23 silver and 20 bronze.

New Caledonia is in second place with 21 gold, 20 silver and 21 bronze.
